As reported by the 2009 Non-profit Pulse Survey for the Austin area, donations to non-profits are down. Fifty three percent of non-profits report a decrease in their giving over the last year. During this same period, demand for the services these organizations provide is up sixty six percent. Many are having to lay off staff and decrease services due to the reduced contributions. This should serve as a wake-up call to all of us to share our resources, even when times are tight. No one is ever remembered for being tight-fisted, but there’s a long list of people we admire for giving of themselves.
