During my sabbatical I’m reading thru the Old Testament. Right now I’m in 1 & 2 Kings in the post-David era. Interesting to see how since David was king, the nation of Israel has divided and kings from his lineage have sought after other gods. For the most part they have left God out of their lives. God used people like Elijah and Elisha to try to lead the people back to him and they still chose other gods. God promised them a life full of blessing if they would just remain faithful to him.

My prayer today and for the next season of life is that I will ‘stand firm.’ That I won’t be distracted by other gods. That I will choose daily to follow Him.
